"Drawing the City" lecture series 2023-24
The Maison des Arts et de la Création and the Sciences Po Urban School are organizing a series of meetings on the role of artists in urban development.
Why and how to make room for artists in urban development? What challenges does creation in public space address? What tools and methodologies are needed to carry out artistic projects that transform territories? This series explores the points of contact between art and territory, diversifying the formats of exchange: from round table discussions to visits to creative spaces, including the sharing of practical guides that detail the operational methods of the projects carried out.
A program conceived by Jeanne Varaldi, artist and urban planner, graduate of the Urban School ( see interview here) . The series brings together a diverse range of speakers: local stakeholders (Marina Gaget for Plaine Commune), researchers (Charles Ambrosino), artistic directors (Laure Colliex of Manifesto, Gaël Charbau, Pascal Le Brun-Cordier), and artists (Malte Martin) to create a space for reflection and exchange. More than 300 people participated in the series.
