Based in Paris, Jeanne Varaldi is a painter and visual artist.
As an abstract painter, she explores the manufacture of gesture, and the fauvist color palette. Similar to sundials, her canvases play with the sunshine and luminosity of their environment.
She gradually projects her work onto urban space: through her digital paintings, she reinvents the roads, sidewalks and walls of her neighbourhood. Her compositions blur the landmarks of the city to give another reading, playful and colorful. She also targets areas under construction, urban spaces whose uses are not clearly defined, doors and interfaces. Her research, close to Varini's work, invites us to imagine other uses and behaviours in connection with an evolving environment.
She uses digital resources and tools. In 2020, she is organizing an online virtual exhibition in the context of confinement, "Who is here?", which brings together 12 international artists. In 2020, she also designs "The Square", a luminous and interactive work that aims to raise awareness of the behaviour and uses of public space at night.
